Hello!!! It has been a very busy year for me so I haven’t been able to write as much as I would’ve liked, but it was a good kind of busy resulting in huge progress on multiple musical projects!
#1: I want to thank everyone who came to my MTSU Faculty Recital on October 19 where I released my new album “Matt Lund and the Waggerers.” This music is a bit of a departure for me because it is my first foray into writing Country, Blues, Bluegrass, and Folk songs and performing on Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele, and Pedal Steel Guitar. This music is available on iTunes, Spotify, and other streaming services including my YouTube channel and I also want to thank everyone for viewing the videos of the recorded music and the live videos from the concert. It was incredibly fun to make and perform this music and I hope you enjoy it too!
#2: I am excited to annouce the upcoming release of the second Rescued Souls album “Worship 2018.” It is a full-length album of different styles of worship songs including Contemporary Christian, Gospel, and Bluesgrass Worship. This has actually been in the works longer than “Matt Lund and the Waggerers” and includes songs that were written as many as nine years ago! It also took me a while to mix this album because this style of music is very layered and textural so I had to work hard to get it all to blend just right. One other challenge was mixing the drums; I chose not to use samples/triggers for the drums in order to retain the acoustic “live” sound to simulate a true worship environment. Look for lyric videos of Rescued Souls Worship 2018 throughout December!
#3: This past July The Lund McVey Group recorded ten songs at The Tracking Room in Nashville, which is an amazing studio (http://www.thetrackingroomstudio.com/). I am in the process of editing and mixing this album and it will be released at a concert at MTSU on February 22. This will be our third album and with these songs we have reached a new level of expression and complexity within the Jazz/Fusion genre. The recording and the concert will feature myself on Guitar, Jason McVey on Alto Saxophone, Tyler Enslow on electric and upright Bass, Brian Mueller on Drum Set, and Shonna Lund on Vocals. I hope you will join us on February 22 as we present this music!
