In one week The Lund McVey Group will release our new album "The Light of the Son" at a concert at Middle Tennessee State University. The album features all new tunes that I wrote over the last few years recorded by Matt Leigh at The Tracking Room in Nashville with a great band: me on guitar, Jason McVey on alto saxophone (a fellow alum of the MTSU jazz graduate studies program), Brian Mueller on drums (a fellow MTSU music professor), Tyler Enslow on bass (a recent graduate of the MTSU jazz studies program), Shonna Lund on vocals, and Dominic Castor on trumpet (a current MTSU jazz student). The album includes ten songs; four of them have vocals and the others are various types of jazz styles such as swing, funk, modern jazz, and fusion.
The release concert will be on Friday, February 22, at 7:30 pm, in the Hinton Music Hall in the Wright Music Building on the campus of MTSU. It is free and open to all ages, and will feature myself, Jason McVey, Brian Mueller, Tyler Enslow, Shonna Lund, and special guests Ray Palousek on piano and Kyle Etges on soprano saxophone. We will perform selections from the new album! It is going to be great and I hope to see you there.
