This blog entry describes my three guitar amps that I use professionally. I have had all three for a while and have no complaints! You can see the settings I use in the pictures.
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
This is a very versatile amp that I mainly use with my Mario Martin S Series (stratocaster style), G&L ASAT Classic (telecaster style), and Gibson Les Paul Standard. I use this amp for recording sessions, worship music, and playing pop/rock/dance covers in The Time Raiders. This is a tube amp and it has one 12-inch speaker. It has a great spring reverb and quick response with clarity on both the clean and overdrive channels, and it sounds really good when you put pedals in front of it. I like to dial the treble, mid-range, and presence up to get a punchy yet warm sound. I don't like to turn the bass up as much because then it sounds too muddy. I bought this new in the late 1990's.
Polytone Mini S15L
This is a solid-state amp with one 15-inch speaker that I use for jazz and fusion with The Lund McVey Group. I play my Washburn semi-hollow body and PRS Standard through it. This amp has a pretty good spring reverb built in and a fun modulation effect. It sounds warm and fat across all frequencies. I turn the bass all the way down because the big speaker has a lot of low and I leave the mids and treble at 12:00 so that the amp doesn't change my guitars' sounds. It sounds good clean but also takes effects well. I got this used around 2005 and I am not sure how old it is.
Mesa Boogie Nomad 45
I love this Mesa Boogie tube amp with three-channels and four ten-inch speakers. It is heavy and awkward to carry but the sounds make up for that. This is a great rock 'n' roll and heavy metal amp. There are clean, overdrive, and distortion channels all with individual controls, different settings for the channels such as "modern," "vintage," "clean," and "pushed," and for amp "normal" and "extreme," and it also has spring reverb. I use this amp for Rescued Souls and Axe Of God and pair it with my PRS Standard, Jackson Soloist (SL3), and Jackson Randy Rhoads Flying V (RR3). Once again my settings include turning down the bass while turning up the presence, treble, and mid-range. This amp has great gain sounds as well as a "solo" knob which allows you to boost your output with a button on the five-button foot switch. Pedals sound good going in but it also has a nice effects loop to put stuff after the amp's gain and EQ. I bought this amp new around 2002.
