I have a bunch of guitars as well as other instruments such as a pedal steel guitar, a ukulele, an electric bass, a mandolin, and a keyboard. I also have a few amps and pedals and I will post some blogs in the future describing this gear but in this post I just want to mention a couple of my electric guitars that I use the most:
Paul Reed Smith Standard
Even though it is named the "Standard" model I find this PRS to be far less ubiquitous than the "Custom" model, which is what most PRS owners have. The standard features an all mahogany body and neck which gives it a much darker and warmer tone than its counterpart. I prefer this tone because I use this guitar for all the fusion songs I do with The Lund McVey Group and I also enjoy its fat rock tone for Rescued Souls. It has a great PRS floating bridge tremolo that stays in tune without a locking nut and even though the stock Dragon II pick-ups sounded really good, I have modified this guitar by having Mark Tremonti signature humbuckers installed. I got this guitar used almost 15 years ago so I am not exactly sure how old it is.
Mario Martin S-Series
This awesome and versatile electric guitar was hand crafted by Murfreesboro guitar maker Mario Martin at The Guitar Mill. It is a stratocaster style guitar with vintage style hardware and a swamp ash body, bird's eye maple neck, and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard. It is very light and is a pleasure to play. I use it in The Time Raiders because it is perfect for covers of all styles and also when I play worship music because it has a clear and bright tone that works very well for textural playing. It can also be heard on certain parts of the Rescued Souls album. This great guitar was a birthday present to me from my father in law Rick Longie in 2013.
Washburn HB 35-S
This is my jazz guitar that I use for playing standards gigs and of course also for the jazz tunes played by The Lund McVey Group. It is a semi-hollow body electric and I use flat-wound strings for a very smooth and fat tone. I bought it from my friend Jeff Clements around 2003 who had it since the 1990's. It sounds great through my Polytone jazz amp.
