Praise, Honor, and Glory to the Lord our God the Father, out of whom all is created, His amazing Son Jesus Christ, the savior of all mankind, through whom all is created, and His Holy Spirit, which works in this world and dwells within us! I have set my life, abilities, guitars, pedals, and amps down before my God, and He has returned them to me with His anointing as the “Axe of God!” I believe this music is inspired by God and made to bring glory to His name. "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds." 2 Corinthians 10:4.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the blessing of music, and for blessing and gifting me with music and guitar and for anointing me to proclaim your greatness and power through these songs. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you would use this music, and let the power of Heaven flow through it to change people’s hearts and overcome evil. I pray that for anyone listening to this music, may this rocking, shredding, and screaming guitar help you feel joy and love, grace and truth, and overcome strongholds in your life, and that it would deliver the Light of God to your ears, mind, and heart!!
Axe Of God is not your standard worship music; it is Christian Instrumental Progressive Rock and Metal. Drawing inspiration from Bible verses, Matt Lund composed, recorded, mixed, and produced a full-length album of intense music featuring his electric guitar playing and including electric bass, drum set, and keyboard.
Lund’s style is influenced by guitar greats such as Joe Satriani, Jason Becker, Randy Rhodes, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Slash, John Petrucci, Eddie Van Halen, Allan Holdsworth, Greg Howe, Jennifer Batten, Alex Lifeson, Scott Henderson, Shawn Lane, Zakk Wylde, Marty Friedman, and Mark Tremonti, and his songs combine rock and metal with progressive rock, blues, jazz, fusion, and classical music concepts. Lund utilizes many advanced techniques in his playing and composing and to get his guitar sounds he uses various effects and pedals including wah-wah, delay, reverb, flanger, overdrive, distortion, chorus, phaser, tremolo, volume pedal, and whammy pedal.
See below the videos for notes about the songs' meanings and Bible verse references!

“May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Hebrews 13:20-21
We are bound to God through Christ Jesus and the eternal covenant of His resurrection and defeat of death.
Everlasting Light
"Your sun will never set again, and your moon will wane no more; the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your days of sorrow will end." Isaiah 60:20
This song is a celebration of God's unlimited power, goodness, glory, grace, mercy, and faithfulness in leading us all to the best place for us in this world.
Walk Steady
"Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." Galatians 5:25
If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then you know He has used the Holy Spirit to rebuild you from the inside out. However, life is still a journey and we must always be sure to listen for God’s voice spoken through the Holy Spirit.
The Lord is Not Slow
“With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:8b-9
God’s timing is perfect, as is His plan for creation. Everything has a beginning, an end, and a reason. His promise of life, truth, joy, and love will come to pass as He has willed it.
This Moment is an Eternity
"And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." 1 John 5:11
It only takes a moment to realize your sin, accept Jesus's purifying sacrifice on your behalf, and receive a life in the heavenly realm after your life on this world is over. Any moment in your life could be that moment!
Forgiveness
"Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against each other. Forgive as the Lord forgave you." Colossians 3:13
Jesus's main commandment was to love God and love each other. A huge part of loving each other is to forgive each other for anything and everything that has hurt us. Why shouldn't we, when God offers us complete forgiveness and sacrificed His own Son for us?
The Battle
“For our struggle is not against the flesh and blood, but against the rules, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12
This life is full of battles between people, the cause of which is the conflict of good against evil that is to play out in this world. Seeking God and His wisdom gives us understanding and discernment of these forces.
The Kingdom
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
The most important thing in this life is seeking to know God. When we realize this truth, our perspective on everything changes and we see God’s providence for all things.
Cornerstone
"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God's people and members of God's household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone." Ephesians 2:19, 20
I believe that all people will someday live together in harmony and worship the King of Kings: Christ Jesus, the Cornerstone of life!
All In All – “For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all.” 1 Corinthians 15:22, 28
