I am happy to announce the release of my newest album: Works 2!
"Matt Lund: Works 2" is a solo album of original folk, jazz, pop, classical, and worship songs and compositions. It includes 6-string acoustic guitar in standard and alternate tunings, classical guitar, 12-string guitar, electric jazz guitar, ukulele, mandolin, vocals, and pedal steel guitar. The music is meant to be uplifting and deals with spiritual and secular issues while focusing on an overall theme of faith, hope, and love.
"Works 2" was recorded by Bryce Roberts at The Tracking Room in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2016, and Matt Lund at Matt Lund Studios in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, in 2009, 2012, and 2016. The album was produced and mixed by Matt Lund and mastered by SoundLab at CD Baby. The cover photo and layout is by Kirk Boutz. Special thanks to Matt Leigh for all his help! Works 2 is the sequel to Matt Lund: Works, an instrumental album released in 2006.
"I'll Tell You Later" (Vocals, 6-string Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin, Pedal Steel Guitar)
My wife Shonna and I have hectic work schedules and sometimes we see each other for a short period in between commitments. This song describes the feelings we have when we are briefly together and as we temporarily separate.
"I'm Gonna Write a Song About It" (Vocals, Ukulele)
Songwriting is therapeutic for me. This is a humorous tale of all the things that could happen to me that I would deal with by writing a song about them.
"Before I Knew You" (Vocals, Electric Semi-Hollowbody Jazz Guitar)
This is a song I wrote for my wedding in 2009. I sang it to Shonna during the ceremony. It talks about my path to God and Shonna's and my paths to each other.
"Love of My Life" (Classical Guitar)
Love of My Life is an instrumental piece expressing my feelings for three great loves of mine: God, my Family, and Music.
"My Family Line" (Vocals, Mandolin)
Family can be very important whether by blood or other relationships we create. We also have progeny whether biological of through our interactions. This song describes the nature and value of family of all kinds.
"The Reason That I Live" (Vocals, 6-String Acoustic Guitar)
Originally released by Rescued Souls on our self-titled album, this is a worship song naming the great qualities of God, including the fact the He is the impetus for all life.
"I'm Sorry" (Vocals, 6-String Acoustic Guitar, Ukulele)
I am certainly not perfect and this song describes my nature while offering an apology and explanation for my negative qualities. It also expresses the hopeful facet of who I am.
"Now I Can See" (Csus2 Tuning 6-String Acoustic Guitar)
This is an instrumental piece with a few movements, each utilizing the unique tuning I used on the guitar. I got the idea from "Rain Song" by Led Zeppelin which is also in this tuning.
"My Great King" (Vocals, 12-String Acoustic Guitar)
Also originally by Rescued Souls, this worship song talks about who Jesus is and what is to come upon His return.
"Closer to God" (Vocals, 6-String Acoustic Guitar)
Closer to God describes the ever-changing walk of spiritual growth. Sometimes we feel close to God and then as we move forward everything changes.
"When I Dream" (Vocals, 6-String Acoustic Guitar)
I occasionally have disturbing dreams where I am no longer with my wife Shonna and am trying to get her back or where I am with someone else but still aware that Shonna is supposed to be my wife! I also have dreams where Shonna and I are together and as good as those dreams are, they don't compare to the reality of our marriage.
"Anatomic Sub-Lexer Part 2" (6-String Acoustic Guitar, Classical Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, 12-String Acoustic Guitar, Csus2 Tuning 6-String Acoustic Guitar, Pedal Steel Guitar)
This instrumental song is the sequel to a song from my 2006 release "Matt Lund: Works" called "Anatomic Sub-Lexer," that featured nine different guitars at the same time. This new song is an eclectic classical composition with multiple movements that includes seven great instruments together.
Thanks for listening!
